PRS Private Stock guitars

Paul Reed Smith produce one-off, custom guitars in addition to their well-received wholesale line. The design and selection of these custom instruments are arranged through authorized retailers, and each guitar is built to the customer's precise specifications.

The Private Stock line of guitars are built using premium-grade materials, although PRS tend to make all of their guitars from superior woods and hardwire. The Private Stock customs tend to make use of quilted maple tops and mahogany bodies, as well as rosewood fingerboards. The designs tend to jump off from existing PRS models, especially such diehard guitars as the Singlecut.

Each guitar in the Private Stock line receives a six-digit serial number, with the first two digits being the lettes PS.

Given the company's usually high prices, one can understand that these custom guitars can only be purchased for only premium prices (and of course will command greater values on the secondary market if kept in excellent shape). A Private Stock custom guitar can be had from the company for around $7,500.00, but some special models can cost between $13,000.00 and $15,000.00.
